Sorrento is the best location for wedding photography, it has everything! The amazing Italian light, the sea, the architecture, it is simply beautiful. Rebecca and Dave are from Manchester though, not Italy! That’s one of the reason’s they booked a Manchester wedding photographer! I met them initially at The Manchester Wedding Show at Event City around a year before the wedding and once I’d shown Rebecca my previous Sorrento wedding photographs it didn’t take much more persuasion to book me. The Grand Excelsior Vittoria Hotel is the most incredible hotel I’ve ever been in. There are pictures on the walls of the hotel of various royalties and celebrities at the hotel include the Queen and Pavarotti. You don’t get much more A-list than that! I arrived in Italy on the morning of the wedding and travelled to my hotel in Sorrento where I found that I’d accidentally booked my hotel for the month before, woops! Luckily they had space for me so I dropped my bags and set off down the road for a look around the town and to shoot a few frames on the street to get warmed up. The wedding wasn’t until 4pm so I had plenty of time. I got some great shots of tourists and sunbathers as you can see straight down onto Sorrento beach from above, which is a strange view to be given of a beach. I arrived at the hotel to be taken to the most amazing hotel suite that overlooked the sea. Once Rebecca was ready I ran to the ancient Cloisters of San Francesco which are simply stunning and the perfect location for a wedding ceremony. The ceremony was set to the sound of a harp and was a “pinch yourself” moment, the kind of setting that you think can only exist in the movies. After the ceremony the guests all headed back to the Grand Excelsior Vittoria Hotel for a day of lounging around, having fun and eating the most amazing meal which I had the pleasure of eating too! We moved over to the pool bar for the evening celebration and watched fireworks going off from across the bay. It couldn’t have been a more perfect wedding. Congratualtions Rebecca and Dave xx
