Middleton Lodge Wedding Photography // Kate & Martin

Middleton Lodge is an awesome wedding venue way up North at the very tip of Yorkshire.  It was here that Kate and Martin had their wedding reception and Martin spent the morning getting ready with his groomsmen.  Kate got ready with all her bridesmaid’s at her family home not too far away.  I always like it when the bride gets ready in the house that she grew up in, it adds to the emotions and this was a truly emotional day on so many levels.  The house was full of character and I tried to capture that in the photos.  The bedroom doors belonging to Kate and her sister Lucy still have their names on them and the rooms themselves have barely changed since they moved out over a decade ago. Kate’s mum was apologising to me for the mess but it’s details like this that really matter, it was perfect!  The Church ceremony was conducted in high spirits with one of the funniest sermon’s I’ve ever heard and I’ve heard a few.  The vintage wedding bus then took all the guests to Middleton Lodge with Kate and Martin riding in a really cool vintage Rolls Royce.  The highlight of afternoon had to be the video that was part of the best man’s speech.  A drama featuring many of the guests telling the story of what happened after Martin’s band split up, everyone was in stitches – or ginger beards.  The night was capped off by plenty of dancing into the small hours and I eventually got some kip behind a sofa in a very posh lounge.  It was too late to drive all that way home to Manchester!  Congratulations Kate and Martin…
